Local Support Services

  • Start A Conversation – Suicide is Preventable - If you are worried about the mental health of a friend or family member, the Start a Conversation website for Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland will have useful advice on how to support them during this difficult time.
  • The Tomorrow Project - A confidential suicide bereavement service for residents of Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland offering 1:1 support for children and adults. Email: info@tomorrowproject.org.uk.
  • Teen Health 11-19 (new service from Sept 2022 in replace of school nursing for this age group) - the service aims is to support children and young people to make healthier choices with a focus in improving mental health and emotional wellbeing, supporting health relationships and reducing substance misuse (particularly cannabis use), and reducing alcohol consumption.

National Support Services

  • ChildLine - Tel: 0800 1111 - Counselling service for parents, children and young people, offering free and confidential help and advice.
  • Samaritans - Tel: 116 123 | Email: jo@samaritans.org - A free listening service. You can talk about anything that's troubling you, no matter how difficult.
  • Shout - A free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone who is struggling to cope. Text "SHOUT" to 85258 to contact the Shout Crisis Text Line, or text "YM" if you're under 19.
  • The mix - Tel: 0808 808 4994 - Support and advice for under 25s, including a helpline, crisis messenger service and webchat.
  • Young Minds - A UK Mental Health Charity, leading the movement to make sure every young person gets the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what.
  • Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) - Tel: 0800 58 58 58 and webchat crisis lines available 5pm-midnight.
  • SOS Silence of Suicide – Tel: 0300 1020 505 – 4pm to midnight every day - for adults and children aged 12 years plus. Email support@sossilenceofsuicide.org.
