Free period products will continue to be available for schools to distribute to their pupils in England
The programme, which launched in January 2020, aims to make sure young people can access period products when they are needed, reducing stigma and keeping young people attending school and college and engaged in education, when they might have otherwise missed out.
The scheme provides learners with a range or menstrual products, including environmentally friendly pads, tampons and menstrual cups, via their school and college.
The government initially extended the scheme until the end of the 2022 academic year. The Department for Education announced information via social media on 21st February 2022 to that the scheme will be continuing after this academic year.
