Promoting Staff Wellbeing in Primary Schools

Broadly speaking there are two different ways to approach the challenge. One is to explore generic strategies that an individual can use to support their well being irrespective of role, and the other is to look at specific school-focused organisational approaches that can be implemented to the benefit of all.

Whilst there is some of the former in this course it is mostly about the education-specific approaches that have been shown to benefit staff. There is a strong focus on looking at practical, tried and tested, tweaks that can combine together to have a substantial impact on the well being of all staff.

Inter-personal relationships (staff, parents, pupils etc.)

Organisation impacts on wellbeing

Planning for particular incidents and busy times

Motivation for teaching and learning

The course is lead by Steve Harris of Well being Education. Steve also leads the Route to Resilience programme in schools in Leicestershire, and some of this content is included within that programme. If your school has participated in Year 1 or 2 of Route to Resilience you will already have seen some of this content. You are welcome to attend and explore in greater depth, or to send other staff members who you feel might have a role to play in this aspect of school development.
