Cooking in the Primary Curriculum FREE training- additonal date added

The Food for Life Partnership (FFLP) has been commissioned by Leicestershire County Council to work with schools across Leicestershire and Rutland to improve school food culture and invites you to send a member of staff to our “Cooking in the Primary Curriculum” training.  Led by Focus on Food, the course will cover essential elements in the delivery of effective cookery teaching to children of all ages.

With the strengthened place of cooking and nutrition in the new National Curriculum (Design and Technology programme of study), this course will give staff key skills to deliver high quality cookery lessons. The training will also contribute to achieving an FFLP award.

Topics will include:

· The importance of cooking in the new Primary Curriculum
· Demonstrations and practical activities
· Use of equipment and knife skills
· Classroom organisation, preparation and management
· Free Skill Up, Start Cooking resource pack mapped to the Curriculum to support teaching staff to deliver cooking from September (one free for each school)

Free resources, lunch and refreshments will be provided
